Montreat Conference Center

In 1897, the first hardy visitors to Montreat arrived by horse-drawn wagon and slept in tents. Today this national conference center of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) offers warm hospitality to more than 45,000 guests each year. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, our facilities and lodging comfortably accommodate groups ranging in size from 25 to 2,500.
Truly "a place set apart," Montreat Conference Center is an idea venue for the many national conferences offered each year, as well as for smaller, more intimate meetings and retreats for churches and organizations.

Earth Ministry Team
The mission of the Earth Ministry Team of the Montreat Presbyterian Church (USA) is to lead, enhance and enable the congregation’s involvement in responsible stewardship of God’s created Earth. Aims are to:
- reduce the environmental footprint of the congregation,
- provide leadership and education to the greater community (on the local and the global level) on ways that respect the Earth and all inhabitants, and
- foster awareness and action with related organizations as appropriate concerning environmental subjects.
The church has been recognized as an Earth Care Congregation by the national Presbyterian Church (USA). It is one the very first in the country to have an appointed Earth Stewardship Theologian. Environmental and Biblical literacy are key themes of this effort, and are addressed through events as diverse as field trips, dinner programs and Christian Education classes open to the community, as well as through mission and service efforts. The Earth Ministry Team is actively engaged with both faith-based and secular organizations and interests, ranging from Presbyterians for Earth Care to the North American Association for Environmental Education.
