As part of its outreach to children and families at this year’s Native Plant Sale and Arbor Day celebration, the Montreat Landcare Committee welcomes the ecoEXPLORE program of the North Carolina Arboretum. This program combines science exploration with kid-friendly technology to foster a fun learning environment for children and encourages them to explore the outdoors and become citizen scientists. On April 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., children in grades K-8 will have the opportunity to “See it. Snap it. Share it.” For more information visit http://www.ecoexplore.net/. Also, throughout the day a children’s activity table will be offering outdoor-related learning, thanks to staff from Montreat College. At 11 a.m. a special demonstration of electronic tracking of turtle movements will be offered. (Image N.C. Arboretum.)
